Chand Baori, located in Abhaneri village near Jaipur, Rajasthan, is one of the world's largest and deepest stepwells, built in the 9th century by King Chanda of the Nikumbha Dynasty. It features 3,500 narrow steps over 13 stories, descending roughly 30 meters (100 feet) to conserve water and provide a cool, social gathering spot. 

Key Features and History

• Location: Abhaneri, Dausa district, Rajasthan, near the Harshat Mata Temple.
• Purpose: Designed to harvest rainwater and provide a reprieve from the intense, dry heat, as the air at the bottom is 5-6°C cooler than the surface.
• Architecture:
   It consists of a square, four-sided structure with symmetrical, geometrical steps descending to a water source
  . It includes a pavilion, resting chambers for royalty, and intricate carvings

Structure: It measures approximately 100 feet deep with 13 stories, making it an architectural marvel of the 8th/9th century.
