My Training Centre - TLM Vocational Training Centre, Panchavatti, Nashik, Maharashtra

TLM  Vocational Training Centre, Nashik

My name is K.Kumar and I am from Katpadi, Vellore District.  I had undergone Stenography Course and Secretarial Practice at this prestigious Training Centre for two years and my name was sponsored through Schiefflin Leprosy and Research and Training Centre, Karigiri, Katpadi, Vellore District through Social Work Department by Mr.Sivasankaran, Social Worker.

I am proud to say that I had studied at this Training Centre and it is this Trainining Centre which shaped my life and laid strong foundation on which I am now in a good position both socially and economically.

I whole heartedly thank the foundars and all the dedicated staff who are doing their service and shaping the future generations of the society.

My wish is that I will do something for my Training Centre so that it can grow better so that many students like me can come up in their life.

This Training Centre is providing Training to all the students from all States through out India.

Brief history of the Centre:

TLM  Vocational Training Centre was established in the year 1979.

Ms Rosalie Harvey, daughter of a priest in Seaford, East Sussex, England, who came to India when she was 28, started her work in Nashik, Maharashtra, in 1882. She was influenced by her father who gave her a ring which had Dum spiro spero engraved on it (Dum spiro spero in Latin means ‘while I breathe, I hope’). She wore the ring all the time, and it reminded her to work to bring hope in seemingly hopeless conditions.

In Nashik, she started a veterinary hospital, and then established an orphanage. Later, in 1898 she started a home for leprosy patients. Eventually, the Mission to Lepers (now, The Leprosy Mission Trust India) took over the leprosy home.

When the cure for leprosy was discovered, people affected by the disease who were living in the campus completed their treatment and returned home.

But the realisation that the leprosy-cured young boys and girls do not have the skills to earn a sustainable living impelled TLMTI to provide them job-oriented technical skills, and in 1979 it started the vocational training centre for that.
